Students completing the Diploma of Children’s Services course are likely to pursue a career working in a Childcare Centre as Group Leader, Supervisor, Coordinator, Manager or Director. Careers as a Child Development Worker or a Children’s Services Manager are also available.

What will you learn during your Children’s Services course?

During the Diploma of Children’s Services (Early Childcare and Development) you will learn the skills to manage a children’s services workplace including how to address regulations, design and implement care routines, work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers and work in partnership with families.
The Diploma will also teach you how to foster physical, social, cognitive, language and creative development in early childhood as well as ways to implement the inclusion of children with additional needs.

Course Structure

The Diploma of Children’s Services (CHC50908) consists of 18 units – 13 core units and 5 electives. As a Nationally Recognised and Nationally Accredited course, the Diploma of Children’s Services (Early Childcare and Development) is the minimum standard for anyone wishing to manage an Australian childcare service centre.

During your Diploma course you will have the opportunity to gain up to 368 hours of workplace experience to enhance your practical skills working within an early childcare environment. These practical hours are split between your first year and second year of studies (128 in the first year, 240 in the second year).

Training Schedule & Support

The Diploma of Children’s Services (Early Childcare and Development) is delivered via distance learning. This delivery method is great for those wishing to complete their Diploma Childcare qualification in a flexible learning environment. You will have 24 months to complete your course though with distance-learning you can start at any time and can work at your own pace!

Reach College will provide you with excellent resources to assist your learning. Our trainers are experienced in the Childcare industry, knowledgeable and available to support you via both phone and email.

While your Diploma of Children’s Services training will be delivered by Reach Community College, the final qualification will be issued by Head RTO (#32067) – Inspire Education.

Entry Requirements for Diploma of Childcare

Students wishing to study the Diploma of Childcare must hold a current Certificate III in Children’s Services before commencing the Diploma. It is also preferred that you have a sound understanding of the English language. Basic literacy and numeracy skills are also required.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The option of RPL is available for any students who have previously gained competency in any of the units offered within the Diploma of Children’s Services course CHC50908. After the enrolment process students may discuss any prior evidence with their trainer before commencing the course to determine if they are eligible for RPL.
